Guess who's back and better than evaaa? It's me! Okay, so I have officially decided to get back on the grind. School was really starting to stress me out, but now that I've got that under my belt AND the weather is starting to cool down, it's time to start posting regularly again. Look, I apologize for being MIA, but it turns out that moving out and starting college and having a boyfriend only to have him move away is actually very time consuming. But, I am finally ready to get back to the blog!
I'm a really big fan of this look (I guess I wouldn't post it though if I didn't like it right?) Okay, so I have been searching high and low for a pair of overalls this season, but I have had the hardest time finding a pair that fits right. I thought this was the perfect compromise: an overall dress. It still has the cute overall top, but you don't have to go through the struggle of finding a pair who's bottom isn't too short or too tight or too baggy or just doesn't look right. And as far as dresses go, THIS ONE HAS POCKETS! Haha need I say more? I feel like any dress with pockets is a keeper. This dress is also made of corduroy which I thought was really fun. I love when I get to mix new fabrics and patterns together. To top it all off, it's a black dress so it literally goes with everything. I paired the dress with a sleeveless black and white mock neck crop top (haha that was a mouthful) and some black booties. Add a pair of hoops, throw your hair up, and you're ready for a night out on the town!
Cheetah It was Friday night and I had no clue what I was going to dress up as that night. I had some ideas, but Lauren and I were going out together so we wanted to dress up together too. We walked into Forever 21 for inspiration and there it was. The cheetah print skirt. It might not have been the most original idea, but to be honest, I didn't really care. I just really wanted to contour the crap out of my face and draw some cheetah spots on there haha. We left Forever 21 and headed to Spirit for the cat ears. That was the worst decision we made all night. The line snaked all the way to the back of the store. We waited in line for almost an hour just for the ears. Then, we went back to my place and got ready to go out. David Bowie as Ziggy Stardust Four months ago I had no clue who this guy was. Then, DJ made me watch The Labyrinth. I think that is hands down the weirdest movie I have seen in my entire life, but... it introduced me to David Bowie. Yes, I had heard a couple of his songs before but watching that movie helped me put a face to the name. I saw the idea for this costume on Pinterest and got so excited (I'm a sucker for face paint though). So here us my tribute to David Bowie RIP Fairy I've had this idea in the back of my head ever since last year. Last year, I really wanted to be a fairy, but I wasn't ever able to find the right pair of wings. This year, I didn't have that problem! This look was super fun. It's not every day you get to put on bright purple and blue eyeshadow haha. ,I even got to have a little bit of fun with my hair. I'm always doing other people's hair so it was fun to play with mine for a change. To finish it all off, I piled on the glitter because why not? Pirate Lastly, just some fun hair for my roomie's pirate costume
Sadly, I had to leave DJ in California, but driving home alone actually wasn’t bad at all. It was probably the first time I had driven longer than an hour, but I just listened to some music and talked to DJ on the phone and I was home before I knew it. You have no idea how excited I was to sleep in a real bed that night. Despite the fact that I am by no means a camper, I actually had a really great time, and it was so good to not have to worry about school for five whole days. Now, I’m just counting down the days until winter break…
Friday night I went out with the girls. We didn't end up going out until 11:00, and I had a hard time staying up past 1am. Sleep is so much more important to me now than it was a year ago.
On Saturday morning, DJ came over and we went up to Scottsdale for breakfast. It might have been because we were both really hungry, but believe it or not, our food actually tasted even yummier than it looked. On Sunday, DJ came over again while I got ready, then we went back up to Scottsdale to meet my family for dinner. Well, most of my family. Cole didn't come. We went to Rehab Burger for dinner (I'm a sucker for a good burger and fries). Normally, my mom would make me some kind of dessert for my birthday, but since I didn't want to go all the way home this year, we went to the Sugar Bowl instead. I was perfectly fine with that though because I think ice cream might be my favorite food. I HAD to get my shake marshmallow lined because look how delicious it looked! Basically it was a weekend filled with lots of really yummy looking (and tasting) food. Yay, so here's to another year! As soon as I say dorm, everyone always assumes the worst, but it's not as bad as you're probably thinking. I live in a quad. That means there are four of us, but we all have our own rooms, there are two bathrooms, theres a kitchen-type area, and a living room space. When I first walked in, I was surprised at how big everything actually was.
Two weeks ago, my room mates and I were all strangers, but I already feel like I have known them for a really long time. They're all super cool, and I think they are going to help make this next year super fun. Ever since I moved in, my life has been chaotic to say the least. I kept making lists of things I needed to go out and get for my room, but every time I would get what was on the list it seemed like I had a new list of things I needed by the following morning. I've pretty much been runnings errands every day for the last two weeks, but I think the worst is behind me because I finally feel settled in to my new room. My dad definitely loves the fact that my boyfriend will come over and help me out because that means he doesn't have to drive all the way out here to do it (even though it's only 30 minutes). DJ is pretty much the best. I'm already totally loving college. For the most part, all of my professors seem pretty cool. The amount of homework I have been assigned is slightly overwhelming, but I'm slowly adjusting to things. Yay I can't wait to see what this year is going to be like! |
