Cheers to the Weekend

     Okay, so this last weekend was a long weekend, and honestly, it couldn't have come at a better time. I have been so sick of school. I get up early to go sit through classes where we discuss the most pointless things ever. I really just needed a break, which was perfect because this weekend was what I guess most people would call "fall break". Really, we were only excused from classes Monday and Tuesday, and I don't even have classes on Mondays. A whole day off yay! But having the one day off actually really made a big difference though. ​

     On Friday, I only had one class, so my weekend started at 10:15 am. As soon as I got out of class I went back and packed my things because DJ asked me to come beach camping with him and his family. Now, I am by no means a camper, but since there was only 10 days until he leaves on his mission, there was no way I was going to sit this trip out. After I packed up all my things, I headed home. We weren't leaving until Saturday morning, but I've really been missing home lately so I decided to spend the night there. I know I'm not even 30 miles away from home but believe it or not, it's still possible to get home sick. I miss sleeping in a big bed, and having a room that you can actually walk around in, and having a kitchen, and my mom. 
     The weekend was already off to a solid start. That night, DJ came over and my parents ordered in sushi for dinner. If there is one thing DJ and I are really good at, it's ordering really yummy sushi rolls. Later, we made pumpkin bread because its finally fall and that means pumpkin everything!

     Saturday morning we were on the road by 6:30. DJ's fam went up the day before so we got up early to go meet them at the campsite. I was determined to get there early enough to get some good sun at the beach because my legs could really use some color. 
     We made it there around noon, and we spent pretty much the rest of the day at the beach. Porter happened to be in the same part of California as us, so he came over that night and we roasted marshmallows. DJ and I had a really long day, so we went into one of the tent to lay down ended up falling asleep way early. When we woke up, we were on the ground; I guess the air mattress we were on had a hole in it or something. Okay, so I know the ground is hard, but like that ground was really really hard. My body hurt so bad the next morning.

    Sunday was another beach day, but we had to head in early so we could get ready to go out. We drove to Santa Ana to see Coast Modern in concert that night. I have been to quite a few concerts but that one was so good. Like so so good. The band is just so dope and it was a really fun concert. Plus, the venue was really small, so that always makes it more fun. Afterwards, DJ and I got to meet the guys in the band before we headed back to Carlsbad. I had been looking forward to that concert for months, and they definitely didn’t disappoint.

     On Monday, we had to get up early to drive to Six Flags. We were on the road by 7:30. I enjoy riding rollercoasters, but at amusement parks, you always end up doing more waiting than actual riding. That part just never made sense to me. We waited almost two hours just for one ride. Plus, everything is always way overpriced. It was fun and I had a good time, but by 3:00 DJ and I were beat. We went back out to the truck and watched Netflix and took naps while we waited for everyone else to get back so we could leave. Man, I slept so good that night.

     Tuesday was my last day there. Our morning had a slow start, then we went out for lunch, then we drove a few miles down the street to go to the beach, but there were tons of people there so we left. Guess where we went instead? To a tattoo shop so DJ could get all tatted up. It was surprisingly a lot faster than I was expecting, and after he was done, we went back to the beach we were camping out so I could get my last minutes of sun in before I had to get home. 

Sadly, I had to leave DJ in California, but driving home alone actually wasn’t bad at all. It was probably the first time I had driven longer than an hour, but I just listened to some music and talked to DJ on the phone and I was home before I knew it. You have no idea how excited I was to sleep in a real bed that night. Despite the fact that I am by no means a camper, I actually had a really great time, and it was so good to not have to worry about school for five whole days. Now, I’m just counting down the days until winter break… ​​​
