Cheetah It was Friday night and I had no clue what I was going to dress up as that night. I had some ideas, but Lauren and I were going out together so we wanted to dress up together too. We walked into Forever 21 for inspiration and there it was. The cheetah print skirt. It might not have been the most original idea, but to be honest, I didn't really care. I just really wanted to contour the crap out of my face and draw some cheetah spots on there haha. We left Forever 21 and headed to Spirit for the cat ears. That was the worst decision we made all night. The line snaked all the way to the back of the store. We waited in line for almost an hour just for the ears. Then, we went back to my place and got ready to go out. David Bowie as Ziggy Stardust Four months ago I had no clue who this guy was. Then, DJ made me watch The Labyrinth. I think that is hands down the weirdest movie I have seen in my entire life, but... it introduced me to David Bowie. Yes, I had heard a couple of his songs before but watching that movie helped me put a face to the name. I saw the idea for this costume on Pinterest and got so excited (I'm a sucker for face paint though). So here us my tribute to David Bowie RIP Fairy I've had this idea in the back of my head ever since last year. Last year, I really wanted to be a fairy, but I wasn't ever able to find the right pair of wings. This year, I didn't have that problem! This look was super fun. It's not every day you get to put on bright purple and blue eyeshadow haha. ,I even got to have a little bit of fun with my hair. I'm always doing other people's hair so it was fun to play with mine for a change. To finish it all off, I piled on the glitter because why not? Pirate Lastly, just some fun hair for my roomie's pirate costume
I can't believe it's already Sunday! I guess time really does fly wen you're having fun. This weekend was MORP, and let me tell ya, my friends sure know how to party. I was assisting in a salon yesterday, and as soon as I got off I had to rush to Tay's to get ready. I might have been more excited to get ready than for the actual dance. We all did space buns with glitter roots and bright purple lip stick.
Surprisingly, we were actually all ready on time. If you know the three of us (me, Taylor, and Brenna) then you know it's a rare day when we are actually ready to go somewhere on time haha. We all left to go pick up the boys, pick up some food, then we ended up back at Taylor's house for an indoor picnic. We were planning on having one outside like normal people, but we didn't take into consideration the fact that it gets dark at night. Whoops. Next stop? The dance! We rolled up, grabbed our tickets, and walked in. Of course, we had to show up fahionably late. By the time we got there, everyone was already covered in powder. We danced and danced and danced, screamed along with the music, and every 45 minutes, there was another color toss. Needless to say, by the end of the night, we were all covered in powder too and our voices were all a little scratchy. We had fun things planned for after the dance too, but we never really got around to them . We first went over to Porter's to get some of the power off. He turned on the air compressor and blew all of the color out of our hair, we wiped it all off our bodies (the best we could at least), and changed into some powder-free clothes. By the time we were all ready, we were for sure too tired to actually do anything. So, we ended up laying around for a few hours just hanging out and editing pictures. That was fine with me though because I could be doing absolutely nothing will my friends and still have a good time! My goal was to make the most of the time we all have left together before everyone goes there separate ways over summer, and last night was definitely a stellar way to kick that plan off. For months, all of us cosmetology girls have been hard at work getting ready for the hair show. hair show (noun): an event where we put ourselves into groups and pick a theme. Then, the group gets a group of models to do hair and makeup on according to their theme. I was in a group with some of my best friends and the theme we decided on was Intergalactic. I was so excited to get to work; it all looked so good in my head, and I hoped it was going to look just as good when we actually tried our ideas on our girls.
model 1: Brenna did a fun galaxy look on the side of her face, and added lots of rhinestones. For her hair, Ashley put three braids in and a messy bun, then they gave her glitter roots. (you can never have too much glitter right?) and Jaycie sprayed some color in her hair. ps her white pants looked so cool in the blacklight! model 2: Shay and Amanda curled and gave her lots and lots of volume. Shay also did her electrified makeup model 3: I colored her hair with pink and blue, curled it, teased it, and added some fun braids in it. For her makeup, I did a bright purple eye with matching lips, and glued a few rhinestones by her eye model 4: Ashley gave her a very dark and dramatic eye, and matching blue lips to the first storm model. Then she added a few braids and curled and teased her hair model 5: For her, I pained a galaxy on her face and addes rhinestones as stars. Amanda did her spacebuns and of course we had to give her some glitter roots! I'm so proud of our group and how everything turned out. Even though it was a very very long day, everything ended up coming together really well, and we all had so much fun. Also, huge shoutout to our models for letting us cover their faces with makeup they probably wouldn't be caught dead wearing out in public :)
Halloween is hands down one of my favorite holidays. I love any excuse I can get to dress up! Though some people thought having the holiday fall on a Monday was crummy, I think it ended up being a blessing in disguise because Halloween turned into Hallo-weekend. Instead of one day of frightening fun, I got to celebrate for four! And believe me, I definitely made the most of it. It started with the big rival high school football game (which we won of course), then my friends and I went to a few parties, I got to go up to Scottsdale and do my parents makeup for their costume party, I spent more time with my friends, passed out candy to all of the cute little kids, watched Halloween movies, and spent more time with my friends. If you don't watch Halloween Town and Hocus Pocus during this time of year, them you're doing something wrong! Even though I love dressing up, I didn't spend a whole lot of time coming up with a creative costume. I decided to go with the classic "black cat." It's okay though because now I have 365 days to prep my costume for next year! Also, I know the pictures aren't that clear, but I'm sorry! I guess that's what I get for taking pictures in the dark though. the key essentials to by basic every day look
